Earth + Spirit: A SUMMER SOLSTICE RETREAT

Join Tina Pashumati James at Nectar Yoga, a sanctuary just 20 minutes off the coast of Vancouver on the ancestral and unceded territory of Nexwlélexwm (Bowen Island, BC), for a profound and heart-centred retreat honouring the Summer Solstice.

At the heart of this retreat is a simple truth: we thrive when we connect—to the rhythms of nature, to the depths of our own souls, and to the vibrant stories of those around us. Through a powerful integration of asana, meditation, Nada Yoga (the yoga of sound), elemental wisdom, and nature immersion, we will celebrate the transition from spring into summer and the sacred wisdom of the Earth and spirit.

This year, we are honoured to welcome Sylvia Shanoss (Mumsi), a Stl’atl’imx Elder, to share her deep-rooted wisdom. With decades of experience walking a spiritual and cultural path, she carries the medicine of her ancestors through storytelling, healing ceremonies, and teachings of the land.

Indigenous Ceremony:

On June 21st, from 10:00am - 1:00pm, we will mark the Summer Solstice and National Indigenous Peoples Day with Tina and Mumsi. Together, we will gather for an indigenous ceremony:

  • Drumming circle and healing circle

  • A sacred pipe ceremony with Tina and Mumsi

  • Storytelling and teachings on the medicine of the land

  • Traditional healing teas and wisdom on plant medicine

  • Honouring the elements: Earth and water

This afternoon will be a powerful reconnection to the land, a space for healing and reflection, and an opportunity to honour Indigenous cultures, voices, and histories through prayer, drumming, and shared experiences.

The Sacred Solstice Gathering is a by-donation event open to the community and retreat guests. Retreat guests are asked to register for the gathering separately.
